El Salvador's Bitcoin City is dead

Well, well, well, looks like the famous Bitcoin City is about as real as a unicorn riding a rainbow.

According to an official document, the proposed crypto-funded, volcano-powered, tax haven has been canceled. Or maybe it never even existed in the first place - who knows?

Despite President Nayib Bukele's claims that the project was "coming along beautifully" and his impressive collection of architectural drawings and concept art, the latest documents state that there's "neither the Bitcoin City project nor is there knowledge of it." Ouch, talk about a blow to Bukele's ego.

So, it seems like Bitcoin City either bit the dust entirely (not surprising, considering the number of setbacks it faced) or it was just a figment of someone's overactive imagination. Either way, it's safe to say that Bitcoin City won't be gracing the cover of Architectural Digest anytime soon.
